What this is not. This is not a live USAspending.gov feed — it is a small, manually researched and individually sourced seed dataset, current only as of each record's own "last verified" date. An award record existing is a fact; this platform does not infer waste, favoritism, or misconduct from an award's size or recipient — see "Reading these records" below. The historical GAO figures further down are a worked example of the competition-rate methodology, not a current measurement of any agency's present-day contracting.

The fields, reusing USAspending's own structure

Verified seed dataset — named contract awards

Four real, individually sourced awards: a sole-source F-35 production contract and its own real modification (linked to show modification history), a competitively bid tanker contract from 2011 (shown for genuine competition-status contrast, not implied current), and a civilian-agency IT services delivery order issued under a larger IDV. This is a demonstration dataset, not a comprehensive or continuously updated tracker.
